Prospective students invited to learnmore about Hynes Lakeview and UNO CampusesEdward HynesCharter Elementary School will hold its last Open House Tour for parents andprospective students on Wednesday, January 9, 8:30am-10:30am at 990 Harrison Ave. in the gym of its Lakeview Campus. Hyneswill open a new school for the 2019-20 school year in partnership with UNO namedHynes Charter School-UNO. The campus will be temporarily housed at the JeanGordon swing space, located at 6101 Chatham Dr., until the new school isconstructed on the UNO campus.For the2019-20 school year, Hynes Charter School-UNO will enroll Kindergartenstudents, and will add at least one grade each year until maximizing enrollmentin grades Kindergarten-8th with the potential to serve students inearly education.  Hynes Charter School inLakeview serves children in Pre-Kindergarten gifted and Kindergarten- 8th grade. HynesCharter School-UNO will initially open with approximately 75 Kindergartenstudents focused on a well-rounded, core curriculum with a science, technology,engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) focus. The school will also offer aFrench Immersion program. Hynes Charter School-UNO will replicate the currentHynes curriculum, core values, and framework. Hynes isthe highest demand, non-selective admissions elementary school in OrleansParish.  Hynes is a consistentlyhigh-performing, open admissions, A-rated school. Last week the LouisianaDepartment of Education recognized Hynes as a “Top Gains” School and it wasnamed to the state’s “Excellence Honor Roll” for early childhood education.  Hynes remains accredited by SouthernAssociation of Colleges and Schools (SACS).Parentsand guardians of prospective students are invited to attend and learn moreabout Hynes, tour the school and meet teachers and staff.
