UNIVERSITY VIEW ACADEMY BUCKS THE DOWNWARD TREND IN ACT SCORES



Baton Rouge (October 23, 2018)- Louisiana's highest performing online school lived up to its reputation with ACT scores surpassing the statewide average at 19.9. The average score in Louisiana fell for the 2017-18 academic year to 19.3 but University View maintained its score to outpace 84 percent of the state's school districts.  The statewide average fell from 19.5 in the 2016-17 academic year.
     The ACT test measures student performance in English, reading, math and science with a perfect score being 36. Dr. Michelle Clayton, the Superintendent of University View Academy says "We are pleased with our ACT results." 
In the 20 states where taking the ACT is mandatory like in Louisiana, 13 states did slightly better than the Louisiana average. Minnesota had the highest average score of those states at 21.3  Louisiana ranks 43rd in ACT scores nationwide and outpaces Alabama and Mississippi in the South.
