Einstein Charter Schools welcomes long-term charter advocate as its 
Interim Chief Executive Officer: Daniel Davis


         Dan Davis has worked in the city’s charter school system in various capacities since 2011, and was recently appointed by the Einstein Charter Schools Board of Directors as the Interim Chief Executive Officer.





    Mr. Davis succeeds former CEO Shawn Toranto who recently retired. He worked under Ms. Toranto as a Development Director for the schools’ network of campuses since 2013, eventually rising to be the Chief Strategy Officer for the past two years.

         “Mr. Davis has been intimately involved with the Einstein Charter Schools growth as a federally recognized and awarded independent charter school, helping raise more than $15 million to supplement and strengthen the schools’ academic programs for all grades,” said Board Chair Chris Bowman.
         As the school’s development leader, he was project manager of the U.S. Department of Education’s High Quality Charter School grant awarded to the school network, was lead program designer on advanced science, literacy and mental health programs for the schools, and critical to the monitoring and implementation of all grant-funded programs, which represent a significant part of the operating budget.
         Before joining Einstein, he was also employed at International School of Louisiana, John McDonogh High School and Algiers Technology Academy in a variety of development and teaching positions.
         Mr. Davis obtained his law degrees from McGill University in Montreal, and graduated with a Bachelors in French from Tulane University. He is fluent in French and served various courts and legal clinics in New York, Florida and Canada before committing to education as a full-time career.
         He is affiliated with the Association of Fundraising Professionals and ​the Young Leadership Council of New Orleans.  He will be speaking at a United States Department of Education conference on charter school replication later this month.
