STUDENTS AT EINSTEIN CHARTER SCHOOLVILLAGE DE L’EST CELEBRATE ACHIEVEMENT IN ESL PROGRAM
 
NEW ORLEANS, LA: Twenty-one students celebrated their exit from the English as a SecondLanguage (ESL) Program at Einstein Charter School Village de l’Est onFriday.  Parents, faculty and staffwatched on as students from grades 2nd, 3rd, 4thand 5th received “Achievement Certificates” for achieving fullproficiency by the state of Louisiana English Language Development Assessment(ELDA).
 
ELDAis a battery of tests designed to allow schools to measure annual progress inthe acquisition of English language proficiency skills among non-native Englishspeaking students in grades 3-12.



“Weare so proud of the 21 students that “graduated” from the ESL program today,”says Chief Executive Officer ShawnToranto.  “Dedicating fundingto support our ESL students with paraprofessionals and teachers is (and willremain) a priority for Einstein Charter Schools.”



EinsteinCharter Schools serves the highest percentage of English Language Learnerstudents in New Orleans among it’s four charter schools – Village de l’Est,Sherwood Forest, Einstein Charter Middle and Einstein Charter High.

Einstein has one of the most diversestudent bodies in the city and the largest English Language Learner (ELL)population, with 34 percent of its students in an ELL program.
