under Superintendent Dr.Lonnie Luce
 
Dr. Clayton will serveas Associate Superintendent of Innovation and Interim K-8 Principal
 


University View AcademySuperintendent Dr. Lonnie Luce announced the appointment of Dr. MichelleClayton, former Deputy Superintendent of East Baton Rouge Parish School System,as the new Associate Superintendent of Innovation and Interim K-8 Principal forthe state’s top academic performing online K-12 Charter School.


Dr. Luce said Dr. Clayton is nowpart of his dream team of educators to lead University View Academy into beinga K-14 charter school in which every student in every parish of the state hasthe opportunity to gain a quality public education from day one to graduation,and earn two years towards a college degree by graduation time if they sodesire.





Recently, the school added Mandy LaCertefrom Baton Rouge Community College as its Director of Early College and WorkforceDevelopment to manage the school’s growing two-year associate’s degree program,and announced Shana Corers as Interim High School Principal.


University View Academy starts the2017-2018 school year as an independently managed statewide charter school, afterbeing affiliated with Connections Education of Baltimore for six years.


“I am very excited about theopportunity to help students across the state and be part of the innovativedelivery model at University View Academy,” said Dr. Clayton. “The school has atradition of academic achievement and I will continue to build on that strongfoundation. Innovation resonated with who I am as an educator.”


Dr. Clayton is a graduate of LSU,earned her Ph.D fro Southern University, and in addition to being a teacher inBaton Rouge area schools, also served as Executive Director of Academics forthe Zachary Community School District. 


Superintendent Luce said she willdirect implementation of the school’s new curriculum as K-8 Principal andassist the Superintendent with comprehensive data analysis and planning so thatthe staff and students unite to achieve greater academic performance in allsubjects.
