ENROLLMENT OPENS FOR 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR AT 
UNIVERSITY VIEW ACADEMY, formerly Louisiana ConnectionsAcademy
   
University ViewAcademy, the state’s leading provider of high-quality, free public onlinecharter schooling for grades K through 12, is opening enrollment for the2017-2018 school year to students from every parish in the state with a newname, a new Superintendent and a renewed focus on preparing Louisiana’s youngpeople for the tech-dependent future.
University ViewAcademy, formerly Louisiana Connections Academy, serves approximately 2300families with a high-quality public education provided by certified Louisianateachers. The school provides each family a laptop, internet connection, andcoaching support for the parent or adult who monitors the child’saccountability to the program.
Now directed by one ofLouisiana’s top educators, Dr. Lonnie Luce, University View Academy isemphasizing its focus on educating its students to prepare for advancededucation and technological prowess. 
“From the moment astudent enters our virtual classrooms, they are oriented towards pursuing theirmaximum development in one of two pathways: advanced education/college prep orcareer development/Jump Start. By the time they graduate with their UniversityView diploma, they have also completed two years of college-credit courses,”said Dr. Luce. “Technically, we are now a K-14 school to every student whodesires this track.”
University View wasrecently approved by BESE to network with the state’s community colleges inorder to allow each graduate to have a high school diploma and an associate’sdegree.
“The bonus eachstudent gets from our school is we orient them towards their best future andhelp them expand their ability to get a quality education or jobpost-graduation,” said Dr. Luce. “For parents, we’re also saving their studenttwo years of advanced education costs, so TOPS dollars stretch further.”
Enrollment is open nowfor all grades, K-12. Dr. Luce encourages parents and prospective students toattend an information session, speak with an enrolled family as well asUniversity View teachers and staff, and ask questions.             UniversityView Academy has a high return rate of previous students so interested familiesare encouraged to start the enrollment process now for the limited number ofopen seats in all grades.

ABOUT DR.LONNIE LUCE
Dr. Lonnie Luce, named Superintendent in 2016, is recognizedas one of the top public education leaders in Louisiana, having served asSuperintendent of St. James Parish public schools for nine years and recognizedas Louisiana State Superintendent of the Year (2014). He takes over the topacademically performing virtual charter school in the state and brings years oftechnological innovation from the St. James, Livingston, Baton Rouge andOrleans Parish public school systems, as well as the Greenville County, SouthCarolina School System. He received his Ph.D from Louisiana State University;has a Masters in Public Administration from LSU; and, received his Bachelors inEducation from Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond. He is an ArmyVeteran who served in Afghanistan and continues to serve in the rank of Colonel.
