Audubon Charter School welcomes French exchange studentsfrom Collège César
Attaché of the Général Consulate of France in NewOrleans and Audubon Charter School to greet students at reception Monday
WHAT:
A ceremony will be held to welcome 7th Grade exchangestudents from the Collège César in Roquefort-les-Pins to Audubon Charter Schooland New Orleans.
The students will be arriving May 8 and returning to Franceon May 22. Audubon students will visit France in October. Raymond Hinz, theAttaché of the Général Consulate of France in New Orleans will be in attendanceto greet the students.

WHY:
The goal of the exchange program is for the Frenchstudents to observe American culture and educational customs and work on theirEnglish language skills, and for Audubon students to learn about French cultureand language on their visit. Thestudents will be staying with English speaking Audubon families for 2 weeks.
Audubon’s French program is the only school having suchan exchange program. The idea was born in 2014, when Audubon was looking for apartner school in France. A former Director at Audubon, Madame Elfi, was alsolooking to partner with an American school and reached out to Audubon.
The French students attend an international school and areexposed to more English Language than any regular school in France. At Audubon,They will be spending about 75% of their time in the Montessori program and 25%in the French program.
The students will be actively participating in allclasses and they will go on several field trips to various places in the citysuch as: the French Quarter, Sector 6, Laura Plantation, Vermillonville and aSwamp tour.
When the Audubon students visit Nice, France in October,they will be staying with French families, many in the family of the child theywill be hosting next week.
Audubon’s exchange program is in partnership withCollège César and in partnership with the Academy of Nice. This is the second year this exchangehas taken place.
Audubon currently serves 835 students in grades PK thru 8. AudubonCharter School is a top performing, “A” rated New Orleans public school,offering a unique Montessori and French program. Audubon is an Associate Memberof the American Montessori Society and the only public school in Louisianaaccredited by the national government of France to teach the French curriculum.Audubon is proud to have high academic standards, a comprehensive artseducation program, and its celebration of the diversity of all children.
