TEACHERS FOR GLOBAL CLASSROOMS PROGRAM
					


NEW ORLEANS, LA: Einstein Charter Middle School teacher Alondria Bowie has beenselected for the Teachers for Global Classrooms Program (TGC) for the 2016-2017school year. Bowie is one of the 76 teachers chosen from over 400 applicantsacross 47 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.
					



Teachers for Global Classrooms (TGC) is a yearlong professional developmentprogram for elementary, middle and high school teachers aimed at globalizingteaching and learning in U.S. classrooms. The goal of the program is to provide K-12 teachers with the opportunity to explore the themes and applications for globaleducation in their classrooms, school and community. TGC is funded by the UnitedStates Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs andimplemented by IREX, an international nonprofit providing innovative programs topromote lasting global change.






				
			
					
		
			
				
					
Ms. Bowie will begin with a ten-week online professional development course in thefall, followed by participation in the Global Education Symposium in Washington,D.C. in February 2017. The program concludes with two to three weeks ofinternational field experience where Bowie will join a cohort of teachers in one ofTGC’s participating countries.
