Community Arts and Literacy Day
Freeevent features puppetry, storytelling, snacks, theater fun and a free book!
 
Young Audiences and the Jefferson Parish Library presentCommunity Arts and Literacy Day: a Day of Art and Literacy Activities onSaturday, April 16, 10:30-11:30am at the Gretna Library, 102 Willow Drive inGretna.
 
Preschool age children are encouraged to attend.  The event will feature puppetry,storytelling, movement and theater fun with Rebecca Frank and AmauunetAshe’.  A free book will be given to allchildren who attend and light snacks will be served. The event is free and opento the public.
 
This Community Arts and Literacy event is part of the YoungAudiences of Louisiana W.K. Kellogg Foundation funded Louisiana Wolf Trapproject, serving every class at Educare, Kingsley House Early Head Start andHead Start centered with professional development residencies and communityarts and literacy events at their nearest library branches.  The goal of the grant is to increasekindergarten readiness in New Orleans by giving teachers the tool ofarts-integration so they can increase engagement with and understanding of keysocial and academic skills needed to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.
