Science Fair Season is Upon Us
 
Area Students Now Preparing for 2015-16 Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering
Fair (GNOSEF) Taking Place February 23-25 at UNO
 


WHAT:
Presently, twenty-nine (29) area schools are affiliated with the GNOSEF and conducting science fairs. Winners from each school will advance to the regional science fair (GNOSEF) at UNO in February. Winners at GNOSEF will advance to the Louisiana Science & Engineering Fair (LSEF) at LSU in Baton Rouge and from there to the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) to be held in Phoenix, AZ.
 
The GNOSEF regional science fair isopen to any student nominated by their middle or high school within the designated parishes (Orleans, Jefferson, St. Charles, St. Bernard and Plaquemines). Entrants fall into two divisions: Junior Division is comprised of middle school students (6-8 grade) and Senior Division is high school students (9-12 grade). The Region IX science fair provides more than $60,000 in cash/non-cash awards, prizes and grants.Time is still available for area schools to become affiliated with GNOSEF 2015-16.
 
Presented by the Greater New Orleans Science Fair Inc., H. Britton Sanderford, the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation and Tulane University in partnership with Core Element, University of New Orleans and Women for a Better Louisiana, the GNOSEF encourages independent student research in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).”
