December 3rd,2015:The National Title I Association is pleased to announce that Lake ForestElementary Charter School from New Orleans, Louisiana has been named a NationalTitle I Distinguished School by the Louisiana state department of education.Lake Forest Elementary Charter School is one of up to 100  schoolsthroughout the country that is being nationally recognized for exceptionalstudent achievement in 2015.
A project of the National Title I Association, the National Title IDistinguished Schools Program publicly recognizes qualifying Title I schoolsfor the outstanding academic achievements of their students.  Ithighlights the efforts of schools across the country making significantimprovements for their students. The program has been in place since 1996,showcasing the success of hundreds of schools in one of two categories:
•               Category 1: Exceptional student performance for two consecutiveyears
•               Category 2: Closing the achievement gap between student groups
 
Title I is the cornerstone of the Elementary and Secondary EducationAct. It is the largest federally funded pre-college education program in theUnited States and provides funding to school districts across the country toaid in the education of economically disadvantaged students. 

The NationalTitle I Association is a membership organization made up of the Title IDirectors from each of the states and territories, who are charged withmanaging their state Title I program to ensure compliance with federalregulations and to ensure that all children - especially those living ineconomically disadvantaged conditions - have the opportunity to receive a highquality education. 
The National Title I Association implemented the National Title IDistinguished Schools Program to highlight selected schools that havesuccessfully used their Title I federal funds to improve the education foreconomically disadvantaged students.
