The Top Shelf:  Role of the Board Chair

Being an effective Board Chair requires knowledge, skill and finesse.  This session will provide relevant tips for ensuring that board meetings are productive and impactful as a result of the chair's laser focus on results and effective leadership. Chairing a meeting does not come naturally and herding cats may get tiring, but with these recommendations success is only a few meetings away.


Presenter:  Makiyah Moody is an experienced trainer and strategist with a proven track record of leading and managing teams, forging partnerships, developing programs and providing strategic analysis. Her career spans multiple educational nonprofits aimed at ensuring access and equity. A graduate of Wheaton College in Massachusetts and the University of Chicago, Makiyah values volunteerism and community engagement. She currently serves on Wheaton College's Board of Trustees.
