French Consulate to visit IB schools inLouisiana; 
starts at IHSNO to strengthen charter schoolprogram 
stressing international high school diploma

Why: 
The French Consulate will visit the school to foster stronger tiesbetween its IB program and the nation of France; children of several Frenchcitizens are attending the school
 
BACKGROUND: 
 
The International High School of New Orleans is Louisiana’s only open enrollment public schoolto offer French and Spanish immersion programs. The world language program atIHS includes Spanish, French, Mandarin, Vietnamese and Arabic courses. A fullcollege preparatory curriculum is complemented by an Authorized InternationalBaccalaureate Programme and Bard Dual Enrollment courses. An IB Diplomademonstrates student completion of a rigorous two-year academic program. IHSoffers a full free and reduced breakfast and lunch program to all qualified students.
 
RaymondHinz, the new Cultural Attaché in the French Consulate of New Orleansis in charge of academic projects/exchanges with Louisiana universities andall state French immersion, education and culture programs coordinated with theFrench nation. Beyond France, the French Consulate is also the diplomaticrepresentative for all European Union citizens in Louisiana.Mr. Hinz is meeting witha variety of Louisiana partners in the educational field and wants tospecifically tour the IB program at ISHNO, the only French immersion highschool in the state.
