George Carter Memorial Fund






 

On Tuesday, October 21 we lost a beloved member of our community. By the age of 15, George D. Carter III was already a nationally recognized organizer, a prize winning architect and a champion of justice. He touched so many people with his humor, vision and courage.


George joined Rethink at the age of seven and immediately jumped into complex conversations with much older youth and adults about the future of New Orleans' schools. He coined the term "Pre-thinker" to describe his roles as one of the youngest Rethinkers and dove into projects like designing school facilities from the ground up, making short films and writing a graphic novel, all before entering high school.
