TO BE HELD JUNE 21 AT MEL OTT PARK

 invites community to Family Fun Day
 
Young Audiences Charter School: Academic Excellence with an ArtisticEdge
 
The Young Audiences CharterSchool at Kate Middleton invites the Westbank community and currently enrolledand prospective students along with their families to attend the second annualYACS Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 21, 2-4pm at Mel Ott Park, 2201 BelleChasse Highway in Gretna. The event will include performances by Zohar and theFree Spirit Stilt Walkers and Jonno and Bayou DeVille, activities for kids,games, refreshments and much more. It is free and open to the public. 
 
 “We are pleased to be a part of this diverse community and tocontinue to provide a high-quality, open enrollment, arts integrated educationto 7all children, said School Leader Folwell Dunbar.  Young Audiences Charter School also invites prospectivestudents and families to attend an open house session to learn more about theschool on Thursday, July 17 at 7pm or Saturday, July 19 at 10am.  The sessions will be held at YoungAudiences Charter School, 1407 Virgil Street in Grenta.
 
Recent research showsthat students at schools with an arts integrated curriculum scored higheron standardized tests and academic measures than those at other types ofschools, including academic magnet schools. (PAIR, 2013)  Additionally, students highly involvedin the arts are more likely to have improved grades, better standardized testscores, and increased class participation.
 
Young Audiences Charter School atKate Middleton will begin the 2014-2015 school year August 8th, andis open to any Jefferson Parish student entering Kindergarten, 1st,2nd, 3rd and 4th grade. Space is limited! Eachfollowing academic year, the school will add one grade to serve students ingrades K-8 by Fall 2018.
