[CharterSchools] Master Speaker Stephen Ritz at Edible Schoolyard NOLA

Greetings Edible Enthusiasts,
 
Next week, thanks to the U.S. Green Building Council, Edible Schooolyard NOLA will welcome Master Speaker Stephen Ritz! Mr. Ritz is an internationally recognized leader in the Green Schools movement and we are thrilled to report that he will be in New Orleans. I hope you will consider participating in two free events that will be held during his visit as part of the USGBC's Master Speaker Series.

1. On Thursday, July 17th, at Arthur Ashe Charter School (beginning at 8 a.m., with events taking place throughout the day), there will be a volunteer event followed by a garden reception and lecture about the Green Bronx Machine, and "How urban farming strategies improve student performance while feeding neighborhoods hungry for hope."

2. Additionally, Mr. Ritz will facilitate a free "Envisioning" session on Saturday, July 19th, at AIA Design Center, from 12 to 3 p.m. The focus for this event is designing projects around gardening and urban agriculture in schools, and identifying ways that these types of projects can serve as a catalyst for developing sustainable communities.
