ISL Teacher to unveil his special sculpture The Pelican


WHAT:
Incelebration of coastal awareness, International School of Louisiana art teacherMario Padilla will be unveiling his sculpture ‘The Pelican’ at the school’sBunche Campus.

WHY:
Thisproject was the result of a grant awarded to Padilla so that he could develophis vision with help of our students. The sculpture is a collaboration of Padilla and the artists he teaches ona daily basis. 
 
Theproject is apart of the Fresh Pathspublic artworks initiative of YA/YA. FreshPaths is a project to encourage mentorship and building hope in the face ofecological challenges like the BP oil spill. 
 
“YA/YAis an amazing organization that I am very proud to collaborate with,” saidPadilla. “They have decades of experience with artist development andmentorship for youth. “
 
 
Nameda National “Charter School of the Year” by the Center for Education Reform, theInternational School of Louisiana is the only tuition-free, multi-languageimmersion school in Louisiana.
