Ben Franklin Cheerleaders Receive Top Honors at Universal Cheerleaders Association Camp
Benjamin Franklin High School cheerleaders Alyn Wallace (l) and Rowan Stewart (r) receive their nominations to be head instructors at the Universal Cheerleaders Association camp, one of the highest honors that can be given to participating cheerleaders.
Ben Franklin cheerleaders recently attended the Universal CheerleadersAssociation Summer Camp where they took home the gold ribbon in SuperiorStanding in the Home and gold ribbon in SuperiorStanding Overall.
Otherindividual awards were as follows:
AlynWallace was recognized with the Pin It Forward Award by a UCA staff member.This award recognizes, leadership, commitment, kindness, spirit, motivation anddedication.
TylaCobette and Sherrione Smoot were finalists in the "Jump Off’ contest.
AlynWallace, Tyla Cobette and Sherrione Smoot were selected as “All AmericanCheerleaders” where each were recognized with a medallion and an opportunity toparticipate in the London New Year’s Day parade and festivities.
AlynWallace, Tyla Cobette, Rowan Stewart, and Sherrione Smoot each were awarded aCamp Star Pin for trying out for All American.
AlynWallace and Tyla Cobette were both recognized as Senior Captains of their teamand have the opportunity to participate in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Paradein New York.
On the final day of the camp, the Franklin cheerleaders participated in theXtreme Routine Competition and finished second! They also participated in the"Game Day Championship Competition" where they won 2nd placein the sideline category, 2nd place in the band chant and 1st place in thetime-out cheer category.
Two Benjamin Franklin students also participated in the mascot portion of thecheerleading camp. Jessica Foy and Laura Fairbanks proudly represented theschool where they took home multiple honors. Jessica received the Red ExcellentRibbon, Blue Superior Ribbon, Blue Superior for the Mascot “Jump Off” and 1stplace Superior and trophy in the High School Division. Laura received the RedExcellent Ribbon, Blue Superior Ribbon, White outstanding Ribbon and the “MostImproved" award.
