We are pleased to invite you to participate in Charter First Fridays, a new program that seeks to raise awareness about public charter schools and the diverse charter school movement.

Across the nation, more than 4,900 high-quality charter schools like Einstein Charter School are providing over 1.5 million students and their families with unique educational opportunities that were not available to them 18 years ago. In New Orleans, charter schools are working to close the achievement gap and transform children’s lives. Still, most people have never seen these inspiring public schools in action.

Charter First Fridays invites high-quality public charter schools across our state and the nation to join together and show communities just what a high-quality public charter school can do. Please join us at Einstein Charter School, 5100 Cannes Street, April 9, 2010 for a Charter First Fridays school tour hosted by School Leader, Shawn Toranto, the Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools and the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools (Alliance). Charter First Friday events will be held on the first Friday of every month (with the exception of Good Friday.)

Charter schools are independent public schools that are free to be more innovative and are held accountable for improved student achievement. They foster a partnership between parents, teachers and students to create an environment in which parents can be more involved, teachers are given freedom to innovate, and students are provided the structure they need to learn.

If you are able to attend Charter First Fridays at Einstein Charter School from 8:30 – 9:30 AM on April 9, 2010, please register with Elizabeth Garrett at egarrett at lacharterschools.org or 504.274.3651 by April 7, 2010 to confirm the number of guests.
