professional performance and offer solutions.

This is the best time to interact with teachers participating in the
program.

celebrating the completion of the program on April 28, 1 to 4 p.m.

designated by the “coaches” will be made available for interview at the
school site following each walk. Contact Janice Bernard (504) 267-7239. The

Why: SLC, now in its 11th year, offers the Coaching Program to veteran
and second year principals as a long-term mentoring program. Each is assigned
a professional guide, as well as retired principals and school supervisors,
forming a coaching team. After the initial training, this team provides
monthly one-on-one sessions with the principal to develop their instructional
and leadership capacity at their school site, with measured success in
improved academic achievement scores by students.
SLC-GNO is a partner with the Louisiana State Department of Education. The
Coaches training is federally funded research made possible by a grant from
the U.S. Department of Education. For more information, contact Cheron
