[CharterSchools] SLC statement on murder of AmeriCorps volunteer Callyisse Perkins

Following news of the murder of Callyisse C. Perkins, Paul Gauthe, Programs 
Director at the School Leadership Center of Greater New Orleans, issued 
this statement:
 
“On behalf of the School Leadership Center, I would like to offer my 
condolences to the family, friends, students and associates of Callyisse Perkins. 

>From September until her disappearance, Callyisse had diligently served as 

an AmeriCorps volunteer at William J. Fischer Elementary Charter School as a 
literacy tutor. She freely gave her time, spirit, and love of learning to 
her students and coworkers. Though such a loss cannot be replaced, her legacy 
will live on through the students whose lives she impacted.“
