[CharterSchools] National Charter Leaders Take Notes

Several of New Orleans Charter Schools...Andrew Wilson, MLK, KIPP McDonogh 
15, Lake Forest Elementary, International School, James Singleton Charter...are 
the focus of attention at this week's National Charter Schools Conference at 
the Morial Convention Center. One of the conference panels featured principals 
from the first schools, which were all charters, to open in Orleans Parish 
after the 2005 storms. Those in attendance were instructed about a voluntary 
collaborative among these 10 schools, built initially around school leadership 
development and expanded to include shared costs for legal and other services. 
Baptist Community Ministries and the School Leadership Center of Greater New 
Orleans were key to the collaborative's success. Go to
